MEET OWEN SCOTT
Born into a musical family (his parents are both music educators), it was inevitable that Owen would spend time around concert halls. But at six, he fell hard for theatrical backstage work when he was invited to crew a summer stock production of Into the Woods. Ever since, he’s been enamored by the artistry behind performers.
Since then he has immersed himself in every aspect of stage work – from set building to the fly rail to the sound board. But it was the magic of lighting – the way you can use lighting to tell a story, to convey a message, and to inspire an audience.
A gaming computer built just before the pandemic was a lifeline when stages were dark; Owen was able to learn to design and code using visualizers and control software. Since then he has had ample experience designing and producing lighting for concerts, shows, and events at his well-equipped high school auditorium, and he has begun expanding to work at other venues.
In the spring of 2024, he will explore the corporate event world through an internship with Corporate Live in Grand Rapids, MI. From there, he aspires to get real-world experience with a touring act and provide his keenly musical approach to lighting.
